For many people, paying for dental care is a source of great worry and anxiety. However, residents of our state may take advantage of benefits from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and HUSKY Health. In 2014, more than 38,000 children received dental coverage which they did not previously have. This is due to the efforts of the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative (COHI) and other organizations who worked to have dental coverage for children included in Access Health CT.

Dental Coverage through HUSKY Health

HUSKY Health coverage includes dental care for children and adults. More than 2,000 dental providers accept HUSKY Health clients in Connecticut. Residents of our state can no longer be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition, or have an annual or lifetime cap on their care.

Young adults are now also able to stay on a parent’s dental plan until the age of 19. HUSKY Health provides dental benefits to 43 million children from economically vulnerable families.
